" Those who have dissected or inspected many bodies
have at least learned to doubt, while those who are ignorant of anatomy and
do not take the trouble to attend to it, are in no doubt at all."
Giovanni Morgagni -Father of Morbid Anatomy

The department has well furnished labs for Histology & Osteology. A big dissection hall which can accommodate 150 students at a time is available for the students. The department has established a modern museum for the benefit of the students.
Each dissection room is equipped with excellent audiovisual facilities. We hold an extensive range of human and veterinary specimens, including anatomical prosections, osteological specimens, radiological images, and a pathology collection.
We have a team of medically qualified anatomy demonstrators who teach undergraduate courses.

Anatomy demonstrators teach clinically-orientated human anatomy to students, mainly on the medical and dental courses, in the dissection room (DR). Course organisers provide detailed objectives for each teaching session in the DR. Demonstrators also undertake dissection to produce specimens (‘prosections’) to be used in teaching, and they are involved in setting up and marking anatomy ‘spot’ examinations. There is also an important pastoral aspect of the job: Demonstrators see undergraduate students on a weekly basis, so they may be the first to notice if a student is experiencing difficulties. Over the academic year, Demonstrators also teach external courses to students, studying in allied health professions, such as physiotherapy and radiography.
Anatomy demonstrators also get involved in postgraduate training – both as learners and teachers. They attend frequent classes in surgical anatomy. In the dissection room, demonstrators are supported by a team of highly skilled technical staff.
